Who Is Renaissance Bachelor?
This blog will be my attempt to provide a resource for the for the middle-aged man who finds himself single again and clueless how to go about creating a new life that is balanced, fulfilling and fun. Think of it as a lifestyle design blog for the midlife man.
The Renaissance was a period in history defined by its effort to revive and surpass the ideas, art and achievement of classical antiquity. My journey over the last 11 years has been defined by my effort to surpass the life I had before.
I went through separation and divorce more than 11 years ago in my mid-forty’s. At the time, I had been married 18 years, had a young daughter and was profoundly unhappy. I had a subsequent relationship that lasted 7 years which ended 2 and a half years ago. I’ve been living life as a bachelor ever since and have no intention of changing that.
I was never a bachelor, I went from living with my parents to being married young; I worked hard to provide, bought a house, taught myself home maintenance, repair and renovation. And made my wife and her happiness a top priority. In other words, I followed the normal script that society programs into young men.
I was awful with girls when I was young - shy, needy, clueless and perpetually heartbroken. I married the third woman I had sex with.
During the separation and divorce, I turned to the internet for guidance, eventually found what is now broadly characterized as the manosphere, and began learning.
It eventually dawned on me that most content was targeted at men much younger than I. Hence, the genesis for this blog began years ago.
I will cover a broad-range of topics including but not limited to dating, fatherhood, divorce, self-development, friendship, travel, fitness, cooking and home-life.
I’ve created a life that I find to be rich and remarkable. Hopefully, my story will help you do the same.
